Pellet machines from expondo - for cost-effective and environmentally friendly pellets

Whether for animal feed, bedding or heating material - pellet mills are real all-rounders. Because you can use them to produce pellets from biomass yourself. Depending on the starting material, the pellets serve as useful animal feed, fish feed and pet food or as fuel with an astonishingly high calorific value.

So if you switch from an electric heater to a heating system or expand the heat supply, the pellets are a valuable and gentle alternative to oil. You can also easily produce litter in a pellet machine . That saves costs and protects the environment.

After all, the pressed pellets consist of natural residual materials such as wood chips, paper, leaves or grain. In addition, you can retain control over the ingredients of your pellets. With the pellet presses from expondo you can produce pellets according to your wishes at a low cost.

What types of pellet mills are there? Our models in the shop

Our pellet machines differ in the required power as well as the output power. Depending on which material you are pressing, you can choose the right machine. For example, a wooden pellet press for hardwood requires more power to press than feed pellets.

The output rate varies between 60 - 400 kg / h depending on the model and type of pellet. Here, the amount of raw material decides whether you need to buy an industrial pellet press or if a smaller model is sufficient. One difference between the two types is the size of the dies. The larger the die, the more material the machine can process in a short time.

The size of the pellets also plays a role. Pellets for the private sector usually have a diameter of 6 mm. In the industrial sector, the size varies between 6 and 10 mm. At expondo you will also find models with different drives.

Choose from models with a 380 V connection or operate your pellet mill with a power take-off shaft via the power take-off from a tractor.

How does the pellet machine work?

Set up the machine according to the instructions, prepare it for use put on your protective clothing and off you go! Pellet presses all work similarly. The way of working is as simple as it is versatile, because the basic material is often residues such as wood chips, bark, wood chips, straw, leaves, paper and cardboard.

Peas, corn, soy, wheat, oats, hay, sunflower seeds and more are suitable for food pellets. Chop up coarse material beforehand, for example in a professional garden chipper. When you cut deciduous trees, fruit or conifers , you will also have valuable raw material for pelleting.

How are pellets made?

To produce pellets, fill in the selected base material via the feed chute. Inside the feed or wood pellet press, the material is pressed through a die under heat and pressure. The result: pre-pressed, cylindrical sticks that last longer due to the heat.

In addition, they are easy to convey, dose and transport and reduce the amount of dust during storage and transfer compared to the stored raw material. The finished pellets can be filled directly into sacks or other containers via an ejection chute.

By the way: The pellets should have a residual moisture of around 15% in order to reliably hold their shape. If the raw material is too dry, it will not be pressed properly. If the raw material is too moist, the pellets will be of poor quality. It is always possible to touch up with a little water and a new run through the pellet mill.

What should you watch out for when producing pellets?

  1. Grinding in the perforated disc

The perforated disc is ground in before and after the pellet production. During this process, you should clean and flatten the die to keep the machine running smoothly. To do this, mix flour or sawdust, fine sand and oil together.

Run this mixture through the pellet mill 10 to 20 times. Grinding in is very important, as the materials that are still on the die will otherwise cool down and set.

  1. Care and maintenance

Regular lubrication will keep your pellet making machine efficient for a long time. After several hours of use, the roller bearing should be lubricated. We also recommend an oil change for our models after around 60 hours of use.

Buying an industrial pellet press: what should you watch out for?

When buying a pellet machine, make sure it is easy to use. The main purpose these machines is to make it easier to handle, transport and dose the raw material used. The operation should be in no way inferior.

Before buying, measure the amount of raw materials you have available and the amount you want to produce. The type of pellets also plays a role in the purchase decision, because not every machine is suitable for every raw material. So check whether the model processes your chosen base material.

The mobile pellet press: when is it needed?

Pellet machines weigh several hundred kilograms, depending on the model. If you want to remain flexible and move the press, it should be on wheels if possible. Compact mobile pellet presses are particularly recommended in companies with a smaller footprint.
